With so many people moving to Hesperia, CA, and the surrounding deserts, it means a lot of people dealing with a septic tank for the first time. It’s not uncommon for them to be a little nervous when calling for their first Roto-Rooter septic pumping, but there’s no reason to be. In the vast majority of cases, it’s a relatively simple and routine process that will be over before you know it.

So, we wanted to quickly address a few common questions we hear, to help put newcomers’ minds at ease.

Answering Questions About Roto-Rooter Septic Pumping

1. Where is my septic tank cover?

That depends entirely on the location of your septic tank. If you have the original paperwork and maps for your property, it should hopefully be marked. If you truly don’t know, it’s not a big problem – we can find it for you, but it might take a little longer.

2. How long does septic pumping take?

This can vary a bit depending on how large or full your tank is, but it’s generally in the area of 1-2 hours if nothing needs to be done besides the pumping itself?

3. Do you do anything else during the pumping?

The best time to check for other problems in a septic system is when the tank is drained, so we always do a visual inspection once it’s cleaned out. If there are any other issues we think need attention, we’ll let you know and discuss your options.

4. Will the process damage my lawn?

Not much. Depending on how deeply your septic tank cover is buried, it’s generally necessary to dig it out. However, we’re always careful to do the least possible damage to your lawn in the process, and help put the dirt and turf back in place afterwards.

5. Do I need to be there when you drain my septic tank?

Please do! While it’s possible for us to arrange to do it without you being there, it’s still a tremendous help to have the property owner around – particularly if we need to consult on other issues regarding your septic tank.
